The ones who couldn’t
get out of it.

Collom Porter

Best Man

Met through Eric and Mark the summer after high school and never lost touch. He's the friend who always makes time, always has my back, and treats me better than family. If things get tense, he's the first call.

Ken Boyton

The Quiet Loyalist

Air Force to my Marines. Met him through his wife while teaching at the schoolhouse and we quickly became regulars at trivia, dinners, and movies. He's the kind of friend who shows up without needing to be asked.

Mark Emerson

The Day One

Friends since 5th grade, when he lived around the corner from me growing up. We spent our early days causing trouble and now we make sure to make time to catch up when possible. Even now with our lives branching off and running their own courses, being together still feels like old times.

Eric Fremin

The Constant

Also friends since 5th grade, though it took a minute to become friends, and steady presence through almost every life chapter. Whether he’s giving me advice on joining the Marines or just hanging out and catching up, he is the kind of friend who shows up, sees clearly, and tells you the truth even when you don't want to hear it.

Steve Hill

The Work Husband

Justine's words, not mine. Met him when he joined our instructing team five years ago, and he's the reason I have the job I have now. He also got me into golf, which I'm still not sure I should thank him for.

Drew Pendracki

The Plot Twist

When leadership asked if Drew should join our team, I said no. They ignored me, and I got one of the most loyal, caring friends of my adult life out of it. He’s a great golf partner, always down for anything, and he’s always around when it counts.

Holly Pernell

The Ride or Die

Met as Marines in 2020 at the schoolhouse and have been close ever since. She's loyal to a fault and a friend who never hesitates to β€œrip off the Band Aid,” so to speak. She is one of the first people I told I was proposing, and also happens to be the reason I'm at Lost Lands every year.

Joseph Prado

The Brother From Another

Met in Marine training in 2016 and got assigned to the same first duty station. He's the reason I became an instructor, my landlord for the past four years, and the kind of friend who I can have serious conversations with or completely meaningless ones.

Dan Schain

The Partner in Crime

Holly introduced us at Lost Lands a few years back, and he came in like he'd always been there. He's the friend who's around for the questionable decisions and the real ones. Daily texts, honest advice, and someone I can count on no matter what.
